How image compression works
Image compression reduces file size by re-encoding image data. JPG and WebP can use adjustable lossy compression, which removes some visual detail to create smaller files. PNG is normally lossless and may not shrink as much when re-encoded.
A quality setting around 70โ85% is often a useful balance for web images. Lower settings create smaller files, while higher settings preserve more detail.
Converting a PNG photograph to WebP or JPG can produce a much smaller result. Keep PNG when transparency or lossless graphics are important.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Image Compressor free?+
Yes. You can compress supported images without creating an account.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. The image is processed locally inside your browser and is not uploaded to Xepoca.
Which formats are supported?+
The tool accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP and can export to any of those formats.
Does compression reduce image quality?+
JPG and WebP compression may reduce detail at lower settings. Use a higher quality setting when visual fidelity is more important than file size.
Why did my compressed file become larger?+
Some images are already optimized. PNG files can also become larger after re-encoding. Try WebP or JPG, or use a lower quality setting.
