How image color extraction works

Xepoca downsizes the image for efficient analysis, groups nearby RGB values, and divides those groups into representative color ranges. Each range becomes one dominant palette color weighted by how often it appears in the sampled pixels.

The palette is an approximation of the image's most prominent colors, while the click picker samples the selected point directly. Increase the sample area to average neighboring pixels in textured photos or use a one-pixel sample for sharp graphics.

HEX values are convenient for web design, RGB values match screen color channels, and HSL values make hue, saturation, and lightness easier to adjust when building related colors.
